Brand Recall – amongst top 10 links on Google! Whoa!

Just happened to Google for the word ‘brand’. I was delighted to see this blog amongst the top 10 links. Here’s the link.
Well, this has been an exciting journey for me and I am only encouraged to continue writing. I am unsure how many read this blog regularly, however, I seldom write for others. So [...]

Tribute to one of the greatest person brand ever!

I am just sitting in a dome theatre and blogging about one of the greatest brands who has walked this earth! Michael Jackson!
His having endorsed Pepsi took centre stage and reams of newsprint and miles of film for all wrong reasons!
But he certainly was amongst the greatest and here’s my salute to him!

Zoozoo on my Tee! Ahoy!

Read about this yesterday. You can now wear your favourite Zoozoo on your tee! Officially!
I am particularly impressed with Vodafone for their ability to adapt to the ‘eastern branding principles’ despite being a very ‘western brand’.
I can safely claim to belong to the Kapferer school of thought which hinges on the fact that every brand [...]

Surprise ‘lorem ipsum’ is not dummy text but deep philosophy

For those of you who thought ‘lorem ipsum’ was merely dummy copy, think again … It has a hoary tradition dating back to the 1500s rooted in Latin literature from 45 BC. As to why it is used,
The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters …

Agency compensation

There is a raging debate going on following JWT’s withdrawal from a pitch for UPS, stating,
UPS is a big business with a very big problem to tackle,” JWT Chairman-CEO Bob Jeffrey wrote in an e-mail to colleagues. “They need to treat us or any agency as a partner, and it doesn’t seem that is in [...]

Some new inputs from the erstwhile USSR

This week’s Economist appears to have a rich lode. The article here on the perils of branding in the erstwhile USSR, seems to suggest that it’s current practices are ’erstwhile’ only in name.
The ‘Anti Soviet’ brand apparently excited such wide spread interest that wide swathes of the Russian polity – citizens, politicians, bureaucrats, thugs, commentators, et al joined [...]

If Henry Ford had listened to his customers he would have built a better horse and buggy

Interesting article here on the mundaneness of Mangagement Consultants, courtesy The Economist.
The Economist usually has not been known for being pro-consultants. Among other things, two of the journalists in its staff wrote ‘The Witch Doctors’, a highly critical book on consultants and their fallibility.
Nonetheless, the article does make sense. I mean what the dickens does, “For [...]

A very weird thought crossed my mind. Programmers and ad sellers don’t bother about the placement of the ads! As a kid, I was always interested in Advertising and I still remember many of those ads from old days. Doordarshan once placed’ Swish’ – a shaving blade and ‘Rallifan’ – a table fan ads one after [...]

An article on Star Vijay’s programming

I had in an earlier post commented about the relatively superior programming by the South Indian (Tamil) GEC Star Vijay TV. Here’s another article on Afaqs today. Truly, daring to change the way programming is generally conceived in the Tamil TV space. I have always hated my mom (and her peers / counterparts) hogging the [...]
