‘Search Engines’ – Google Search

I was searching for something in Google Search and my devilish mind just explored by stepping on probably ‘forbidden’ territory! I searched for ‘Search Engines’ (without the quotes) in Google and this is what I got!

Google features a poor 5th entry in their own search engine.

I am wondering what would be the effect of something like this for Google as an organisation.

a. Do they need a SEO (Search Engine Optimization specialist)?

b. I am sure Google knows their own Pigeon Ranking Technology better than anyone else. Does this mean a failure of their understanding of their own technology or probably a little bit of carelessness?

c. What does it mean to their brand? I consider it to be the best search engine available and it could not rank its own technology as the no.1 entry!

I am unable to think of more now because work caught up with me. I will write more about this, but in the meanwhile… any views?

  1. Interesting find! But does anyone use the term ’search engine’ anymore? Google has become what once used to be called search engine(s). Search optimisation is pretty much google adwords these days..fuuniest thing is seeing the google adwords on the side of this post, all of them advertising other search engines(googles) :)
