Al Jazeera voted among top 5 most influential brands

Latest News and Financial Information | Reuters.com: “Al Jazeera voted in brand top 5″. I consider this a surprise entrant, but with the turn of political events the way it has happened and the ‘other’ perspective that Al Jazeera has been providing from the field is obviously a reason. It might sound far fetched, but I think that Farenheit 9/11 and the recent anti-Bush campaigns that gained momentum just before the US Presidential elections have given reasons for people to look for the ‘other’ perspective. The campaign may not have had the desired effect, but I think that it has had an effect on many brands from the middle-east – some good and some bad. Al Jazeera has gained. But I am not able to recall any negative effect on any brand. Any views?
